Our Approach

A symmetrical hotel room with two single beds, a black vintage nightstand with a floral design, topped with a lamp, plants, and decorative items, and a large mirror reflecting a chandelier and floral arrangements.

A Considered Approach

D’Art Carriage provides specialist transport for antiques and artworks between the Channel Islands and the UK, with decisions guided by a considered and object-led approach.

Object-led Handling

The service is centred on an object-led approach to transport. Historic furniture, works of art, and decorative objects often present specific vulnerabilities that require informed handling, considered packing, and controlled movement. Each consignment is considered individually, with methods determined by the object’s materials, condition, scale, and construction.

Conservation-informed Practice

The approach is informed by established conservation practice. An understanding of historic materials, methods of manufacture, and object condition underpins decisions around handling, packing, and transport, with an emphasis on minimal intervention and the reduction of risk during movement.

Transport is carried out with an emphasis on restraint, discretion, and reliability. Rather than volume or speed, priority is given to safe handling, clear communication, and continuity of care from collection through to delivery. Handling is kept to a minimum, and movement is planned carefully to avoid unnecessary intervention.

D’Art Carriage works with private clients, dealers, and institutions, providing a dependable link between island and mainland locations for objects of age, value, and significance.

“It’s rare to find a transport service that understands antiques at this level.

Communication was clear throughout, and the handling was exemplary.”
